Would you like a friend
to help you along this new journey?
I've been there.
And I would love to provide you
with some encouragement and some first steps.
On my 39th birthday I came to my emotional rock bottom. I was anxious, depressed, disassociating from reality, taking anti-depressants just to function and not feel the intense emotional pain I was in. I knew, even as I sat around a table full of people who loved me to celebrate my birthday, that I absolutely could not go another day living the life I had been living. I had to make a change and make it immediately.
You see, I had been living a life that was far from pleasing to God. Yet, even in my sin, God placed people in my life who pointed me to Him. I began reading my Bible and praying daily, and taking long walks to be alone with God and He began to show me that though I had walked away from Him, He had never left me. God loved me in spite of my sin. But He also loved me too much to leave me in it! "For God so loved the world that He gave has only begotten Son that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). Through God's grace, by the sacrifice of Jesus, I was able to walk away from my former life and return to a life in Christ. (Want to learn more about my story? Check one of the boxes at the right and I will send it to you!)
- But you don't know what I'm going through,
- But you don't know how much I have done wrong,
- But I'm a good person, so I don't have to worry about any of this,
- But I grew up in church and go every Sunday, so God and I are just fine, and
- That might be great for you, but it won't work for me.
If you have sinned, even once, even if you are a ‘good person,’ then you have to pay for that sin with your death - eternal separation from the Creator, Almighty God. So, have you sinned?
The Bible tells us that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). Thus, we are all facing God’s eternal wrath, even those who are ‘good people.’ Sin is sin and all sin leads to death.
BUT! The gospel is Good News, not bad!
“We shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him” (Romans 5:9, KJV). That ‘Him’ is Jesus! “Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Here’s an acrostic using RUBY to show how you should go about being saved:
R - Repent (turn away from your sin)
U - Utter (verbally confess that Jesus is Lord)
B - Believe (trust Jesus’ sacrifice redeemed you)
Y - Yield (allow Jesus to take control of your life)
There is not a specific prayer or ritual that you have to do - just cry out to Jesus and believe that He can and will save you! If you would like to learn more, we would love to talk to you. You can contact us at the form on the right.
What is The Ruby Tent? It is an online community of Christian women who love, support, and encourage each other. My mom and I created this community to spread the gospel and care for our sisters in Christ. We would love to tell you more!
